Frequently Asked Questions

Why Choose Foundations Pediatric Therapy?

At Foundations Pediatric Therapy, we’re more than just therapists—we’re dedicated partners in your child’s journey. Our compassionate team provides highly individualized therapy, combining evidence-based strategies with real-world experience to meet your child’s unique needs.

What sets us apart? We believe collaboration is key. Rather than working in isolation, we actively partner with parents, caregivers, teachers, and medical professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes. This team-based approach goes beyond traditional pediatric clinics, giving your child the comprehensive support they and you deserve.

Do you accept insurance?

We are an out-of-network provider with all insurance companies and do not accept Medicaid.

Why are your services out-of-network with insurance?

Insurance companies often place limitations on therapy services that hinders the quality and effectiveness of care that we pride ourselves in providing. By remaining out-of-network, we ensure that our therapists can focus on your child & family’s unique goals as compared to insurance driven goals, which can lack meaning and don't ensure generalization to your everyday lives.

As a courtesy, we submit all insurance claims on your behalf after each session. If your insurance company requests documentation, we will happily submit that on your behalf. We will also support you in requesting appeals to your insurance company for coverage of services as needed. Once your out-of-network deductible is met, your insurance company will send reimbursements, via check, directly to you.

So, how much are your services?

Our PT, OT, and ST evaluations are $475, which includes 1.5 hours of direct observation, standardized testing, and a parent interview. Infant evaluations are 1 hour in length and cost $375. After the evaluation, we provide a comprehensive evaluation report and then schedule a 40 minute virtual consultation with you and your child's evaluating therapist to review the findings and discuss our proposed plan of care. This extra step sets us apart from traditional clinics, ensuring we're aligned in supporting your child's best interests.

Treatment sessions are $155 per session for 53 minutes of one-on-one treatment and includes parent/caregiver education at the end of the session. If your child is receiving feeding therapy, there is an additional $10 fee to cover materials and food.

What can my child expect during therapy sessions?

Your child can expect to play! Play is the foundation of childhood development, supporting emotional regulation, sensory integration, persistence, communication, social skills, body awareness, learning, and attention. Our team's training in DIR/Floortime further supports our integration of play in therapy, as we create engaging and meaningful experiences that help your child develop essential skills in a natural and enjoyable way.

How long will my child be in therapy?

Our goal isn’t to keep your child in therapy indefinitely but to ensure they and you feel confident in sustaining success. Since we take a foundational approach in treatment, we typically ask parents for a 4-6 month commitment to figure out and address the why behind your child's needs as well as your concerns and then discuss the progression of therapy. This timeframe is influenced by many factors, therefore your therapy journey may be longer or shorter.

How frequently will my child need to attend therapy sessions?

The frequency of sessions will be recommended by your evaluating therapist at the end of your child’s evaluation, based on their needs and the goals you'd like to achieve. On average, we see children one to two times per week as that is what's feasible for most families schedules.

That said, research shows that increased frequency of visits, often times called “intensives” or “intensive therapy”, are extremely effective for faster progress and decreases overall time in therapy. Once again, our goal is not to keep your children in therapy but to give them and you the foundational skills necessary to meet goals and improve quality of life.

Will my child want to go to therapy, or will this be another battle?

If your child isn’t eager and excited to come to their therapy sessions with us, we’re not doing our job. Our pediatric therapists create a fun, engaging environment in which progress and learning happens through play. Lasting change occurs when your child is motivated and engaged in meaningful activities.

Will my child see the same therapist every time?

Yes! Once you commit to a time slot, your child will work with the same dedicated therapist throughout their therapy journey. However, we also prioritize a healthy work-life balance for our team. If your child’s therapist is away, has a schedule change, or is sick, another trusted therapist will step in to ensure consistency in care. In some cases, we may recommend working with multiple therapists to support flexibility or to target specific skills based on specialized certifications.

One of the biggest advantages of our clinic is our highly collaborative approach. Your child will never have just one set of eyes on their progress—our entire team works together to provide well-rounded, comprehensive support.

My child’s therapist seems new - how do I know they're providing the best care?

At Foundations Pediatric Therapy, every therapist, regardless of experience level, completes an extensive and hands-on training program to ensure the highest quality of care. Our therapists train not only within their own discipline but also alongside other specialties, fostering a multidisciplinary approach to treatment. For example, an occupational therapist will observe and collaborate in speech and physical therapy sessions to enhance their understanding of holistic care.

As we utilize the DIR/Floortime methodology, all of our team members complete ICDL’s DIR/Floortime 101 course. This ensures that every therapist—no matter their years of experience—meets your child at their unique developmental level, recognizes their individual differences, and builds a meaningful, trusting relationship to support long-lasting progress.

Do parents join sessions?

We believe that parent involvement is key to and want to ensure you feel confident in supporting your child’s progress. Every session includes updates and education, whether during or at the end of the session, so you feel equipped to support your child’s development at home.

We also provide training and coaching during sessions as needed. Depending on your child’s needs and your comfort level, you may join regularly, intermittently, or as you feel is most beneficial for you and your child. Our goal is to empower you with the tools and confidence to support your child’s growth beyond therapy sessions.

What if my child’s needs change over time?

Your child’s growth and development are always evolving, and so is the work (ahem, play) we do in sessions. We continuously monitor progress and adjust therapy goals and strategies as needed. Through ongoing discussions with you, we ensure that each session remains aligned with your child’s current needs, providing the most effective and meaningful support throughout their journey.

Do you offer bilingual services?

Yes! We have therapists who speak Spanish and English to better support bilingual families and ensure effective communication throughout therapy. Let us know if you’d like to be matched with a bilingual therapist!

My child needs feeding therapy - should they see an OT or an ST?

Our Occupational Therapy (OT) team focuses on sensory-based feeding challenges, such as picky eating or difficulty tolerating certain textures. Our Speech Therapy (ST) team specializes in oral motor difficulties, like challenges with chewing, moving food to the molars, or coordinating swallowing.

If you’re unsure which therapy is the best fit, we’ll assess your child’s needs and guide you toward the most effective approach—or a combination of both!
